Chapter 8

I have trouble understanding the technology in TVs. Whenever my TV breaks I have trouble fixing it and have to ask my dad or a friend. I wish I had better knowledge of how TVs worked and how to fix them so I could be more independent rather then dependent.

Chapter 7

I think I share a lot of characteristics with my family. I say a lot of things and think the same as both of my parents so there is not one single person in my family I resemble the most. I do, however, look most like my dad. Both of my parents are from the north so I do feel a connection to my heritage in that sense because I like the cold and love the city in the north. My parents and I share a lot of characteristics and personality traits.

Chapter 6

A month ago my friends and I went to a concert called Jingle Ball. It was a great time because I got to spend it with the people I love and I got to see my favorite band. We danced and had a lot of fun and then after we went back to one of my friend's houses and opened each others Secret Santa presents. We all loved our gifts and then we ate cookies and talked and had a good time. That was a good day with my friends.

Chapter 5

The people I allow to be in my life are mostly excepting so I cannot say that I have felt the kind of exclusion Esperanza feels. Still, if I had been in this situation I would imagine feeling sad and mad that there was nothing I could do about where or how I did. That decision is up to my parents. I can't say I justify anybody who excludes people even though I think we all do it.

Chapter 4

My name is Hailey and that means "Feild of Hay."To me my name has a lot of nicknames. I haven't asked how my name came to me. My first name does not have a significance in my family, but my middle name, Judith, is a family name brought down from my grandma. I would not change my name. I like it.

Chapter 3

When the narrator says "The boys and the girls live in separate worlds" I think it means that boys and girls act and feel differently. The way that boys act toward girls when they are around boy is much different then the way boys act around girls when they are alone. To me this quote is very relatable except boys act very different over the phone then they do in person. I definitely think my mom is treated less harsh then my dad is because she is a women.

Chapter 2

In my home the thing that makes me feel safe are the locks. I know it is simple, but there is a lock on everything. Think about it, the doors to go outside, the garage, the windows, the doors to rooms, they all have locks. Knowing that the locks are there is a good way of making me feel safer. Also I feel much safer when the TV is on over when it is off. I feel like it makes the room more comfortable and less quiet and creepy. I can identify with the narrator as to how everyone in my home ha...

Chapter 1

My house is home. It is comfortable and sweet. My home on Lakeway Place has four bedrooms and six bathrooms. It has a room for cooking, for dining, and for living. My dad has a little office on the middle floor. There is a room across from mine that is used for anything you want. In the living room there is a bright red chair where my yellow lab lays. If you go to the basement, you will find a pool table which can also be a ping pong table. My yard is big, though not so beautiful. Before my f...
