16 Days to Operation & Superhands.

Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing well. I’ve not updated the old diary for a few weeks now, nothing to report really, I’m just waiting for March 12th when I check into St. Georges. I’ll be having another MRI and CT scan that day, staying overnight and then heading down to theatre for the Op on the 13th. I don’t know how I’ve managed it but I actually feel, mostly, like my usual self. The return of my normal eyesight as hugely helped I think, the only symptoms I’m getting is tingly lips/...

Feb 5th - After meeting Andrew (The Surgeon)

Februarys finally here, how long was bloody January???? It’s been a pretty good week since I last wrote on the 31st Jan. I’ve just been getting on with things as normal and have managed to not let negative thoughts get in my head too much. I even managed my gig in London on Saturday though was pretty knackered when we finished. Spinning a few tunes and watching people dance to them is pretty therapeutic. I met with my surgeon yesterday; he seemed a very nice and knowledgeable man who fille...

Jan 31st - Meeting the surgeon.

Had a phone call today, I shall be meeting my surgeon Andre Martin at St. Georges on Monday 5th at 13:00. I looked him up online (as you do with bloody everything these days) and it certainly helped ease my nerves, here’s the link; https://www.iwantgreatcare.org/doctors/mr-andrew-martin?page=1 Amazing reviews, he appears to be excellent and very caring. That will do for me! So, glad it’s happening promptly, feel nervous but only because I’m worried about hearing answers to some of my qu...

Tuesday 30th Jan - Shoulder to shoulder

Apologies again, I said I wasn’t going to write anything until something interesting came up but I just wanted to share my thoughts today, which, I think when I look back on this it will remind me of how positive we can be as people in times of need. An old school friend last night posted on Facebook that his Nan had sadly passed away of the dreaded ‘Big C’. Again, the well-wishes from friends and acquaintances to him and his family were just amazing. I very much doubt he’d hear from a lot o...

28th Jan - The cat’s out the bag…

After 5 days of digesting my news and coming to terms with things I decided to share my news with the world of Facebook. I think I managed to tell all my friends and family over the phone/in person first who wouldn’t have been as upset of seeing the news first on social media. The last weeks been quite interesting but not a lots changed, really. I’ve gone back to work full time as usual, been hanging with friends and had a cracking night out with my old mate Olly on Friday. I did probably d...

23rd January - The dreaded Tuesday...

So, after having being called yesterday morning by my neurologist, I was up at 7:30 with a horrid, worried feeling about what today was going to bring. First stop, my local GP to check on my blood pressure. When I saw Dr Marshall Andrews (She’s bloody brilliant by the way) I could tell she was expressing a little more concern than usual, I felt she had seen something on her computer, which was waiting for me for when I got to the hospital afterwards. She took my blood pressure (high as u...

January 2018

January 3rd So my first day at work came on January 3rd, felt great looking like a pirate on my first day though everyone was brilliant with a lot of piss taking, I felt right at home already. I visited my GP the next day who referred me to a neurologist in Haywards Heath, he saw me quickly and looked quite concerned. He made me have blood tests immediately. He also mentioned it could be cancer but I didn’t think for one moment it would be. Thursday 18th Blood tests came back clear, whi...

November & December 2017

In November I went for a holiday in India, I was feeling so much better. This holiday was amazing and when I got back I finally thought I was fine, as I wasn’t having any headaches or neck pain, result! Sadly, on December 20th after returning from seeing friends in the evening my sight all of a sudden wasn’t right, I had sever double vision. Admittedly, I had, had quite a lot of wine and perhaps, a funny cigarette when I got home so I just thought I was a little bit ‘on the way’ as it were an...

September 2017

In September I had a really bad scare as one day I got up, was eating a yogurt and all of a sudden the left side of my face dropped and I couldn’t speak properly, I thought it was a stroke!!! This lasted about 20 seconds and I then returned to normal. That morning I was having physio at the hospital, the doc gave me a complete reaction test and thought I was fine so I just ignored what had happened earlier that morning though obviously still feeling quite anxious. Over the next month my spe...

July 2017

Along came July, the neck pain seemed to have stopped but I was now getting really bad headaches, I went to a festival (2000 tree’s), had a great time but was struggling to sleep as my headaches and neck pain were so bad. When I got back I saw my local GP who unfortunately wasn’t much help and just kept giving strong painkillers, which knocked me out. This went on for a couple of months.

February 2017 – Trampolines are not good for you…

So I took a friends young lad trampalining, we were having a great time, doing front somersaults and larking about as you do. I was then trying to demonstrate the art of a forward flip - big mistake as I jumped up and then somehow completely cocked it up and landed on my head! I think I blacked out for a second or two and was in A LOT of pain. Of course, I carried on for a while but we then went home. A few days later my neck pain was terrible, causing me all sorts of problems. I booked mys...
