Best doll's house ever!

This is a hand-made hobbit hole by deviantART member ~maddsrocks. The little picture doesn't do it justice, so make sure you click on "source".

For UK customers...

Looks like The Astronaut's Apprentice is now being carried by UK Amazon directly! Previously, you could order it through them, but it would go to a third party vendor like The Book Depository. Not any more!

Brilliant image of Mars

This is one of the first pics that the Curiosity Rover sent back. Can you tell it's in a crater? Those distant hills are the edges of it...

Hurray for Team GB!

Doing us all proud! If they can hold on to that number #3 slot, I'll be over the moon.

The Little Vampire by Angela Sommer-Bodenburg

I loved these books as a child. They didn't translate the whole series into English, and the ones they did do are out of print. Very sad!

A hobbit hole for a very small hobbit...

Was very impressed when I realised what I was looking at here! A detailed model of a hobbit hole has been added to the base of a real bonsai tree. Credit Chris Guise. Click "source" for more info (including copyright status) on Flickr.

This purr-fectly timed photo (sorry) has made a normal Earth cat resemble one of the star-pups from The Astronaut's Apprentice. Click "source" for more perfectly timed photos!

The children's book doctor is in!

I've just discovered that the Guardian newspaper has a "children's book doctor"! You can read her articles on Enid Blyton, Girls in Love, and the Six Book Challenge here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/series/children-s-book-doctor

Harry Potter trivia!

"Dumbledore" is an early Modern English name for the bumblebee. Rowling picked the name because she imagined him walking round Hogwarts humming to himself. Click "source" for image credit and permissions.
