Arctic Roll

We had a nice Christmas! I can't believe it's over! It's already the third week of January! There is a yellow wintry advisory here. A cold arctic snap from Canada has frozen the entire country. Yesterday we had a heavy frost followed by sleet and heavy rain. More snow is expected this coming Weekend. I feel like an arctic roll! LOL!

Thanksgiving is Almost here

Thanksgiving is nearly here. There's only two more weeks to go. My husband has booked eight days off work to enjoy his Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is not celebrated here in England, but it should. Me being American we celebrate it at our house, err...flat. I make a traditional Thanksgiving spread but instead of a whole hog turkey I make a pre-basted frozen turkey crown. You just bung it in the oven and it cooks from frozen in less than two hours or 1 hour and 30 minutes to be precise...

It's Friday Fish Burrito night

It's been a week since I've entered an entry in my Journal. I have been keeping myself busy. Alex and I had a nice long **Bank Holiday Weekend**. We mainly relaxed, watched movies and tv, worked on our hobbies, read, ate and then did some chores. On Bank Holiday Monday I couldn't believe how I slept nearly 8 hours straight! I was still pretty groggy when I got up, though. I know! It makes no sense. But that's my hypothyroidism that makes me feel jet logged. Summer is over! September dawned ye...

Homemade Cream Cheese

Homemade Cream Cheese It's been a while since I've written here. So much has occurred. Today is Friday. It has been raining here all day but it's much cooler. Yesterday we had a heatwave. It was scourging hot! I made homemade cream cheese this afternoon. I got the recipe online from Gemma Stafford's Youtube channel. I love Cream Cheese! I'll be spreading some on a bagel tomorrow morning for Breakfast. Tonight is Fish N Chips night. I#m making fish burritos and fries!

Ayye, Carramba!

I just made myself a Mexican Hot chocolate with 1 teaspoon of Chayenne pepper and cinnamon. I have had chayenne pepper in a hot chocolate before and I thougth it was great! This time, however, I wanted a little extra kick, so instead of adding just a pinch of chayenne pepper, I added a teaspoon! The chocolate was HOT! My mouth was on fire! I spent a great effort making the hot chocolate so I thought I'd better drink it. I took my time. In future, however, I'm just going to add a sli...

It's been A while

I haven't written here in a while. I've been pretty busy. It's nearly Halloween again. I've decorated the apartment. Today the Toilet Halloween decal I ordered on Ebay arrived. It is the picture of a skull with blood dripping down the cistern. It looks spooky.

The Snowy Day

We're headed for a blizzard during the Weekend. This morning it began to snow at six. There was a dusting of snow on the ground. Alex went to work as usual. By 8 A.M., there was an accumulation of 12 inches. Alex was sent home. He came home around 2P.M. He decided to go grocery shopping today instead of tomorrow. So after he came in, he went out. It is going to snow all day tomorrow and into the early part of next week. It is COLD!

Merry Christmas

It's been a lovely but quiet Christmas this year spent in the company of my husband. I made a nice Christmas meal. We ate at five O'clock. There was turkey, roasted potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, brussel sprouts with pancetta and almonds, green beans and carrots in a butter sauce with almonds, stuffing and cranberry sauce. For pudding we had some Christmas pudding with ice-cream.

Christmas Eve

Goodness, I haven't written in here for three months! It's Christmas Eve and tomorrow is Christmas Day! The holidays have sprung on us. I've been cooking up a storm since last week. I have made a Panettone, a Chocolate Log, a chocolate cheescake, Cuban pastelitos de Carne, a Cuban-style meat pastry and tomorrow I am cooking a pre-basted turkey crown with all the trimmings!

Eggs in the Basket

This is what I had for breakfast this morning...Eggs in the Basket. You cut out a circle out of a piece of bread with a cookie cutter; then place it on a griddle with a little oil; then break an egg into the hole. Let the egg fry for a couple of minutes before turning over on the other side.

Throw me a Freaking Bone

It was Alex's first day back. The poor guy was so nervous, he hardly slept a wink. He got up at six A.M. He did manage to have a slice of toast and a glass of cordial (concentrated fruit juice). He left at nine O'clock. His workdays initially are from nine to two. He has to meet with Sally every Friday to discuss his performance. Alex said his first day was good. His colleagues were happy to see him. I missed Alex while he was gone. I did get busy doing my chores. I cleaned the ...

Sunday

It's been raining all morning! The sun is trying to peek through the clouds. I woke up very groggy this morning with a terrible bad back. Alex had to reheat my heating pad. I feel kind of moody today; probably because it's raining and I have a headache/backache and still am coughing. I still have traces of the flu. This evening, we're having cottage pie. Tomorrow the country is celebrating Guy Fawks Day.

All Soul's Day

Illustration Friday: Today's Topic was 'Shy'. I drew this whimsical cartoon. Today is All Soul's Day. I am remembering my parents, Juan and Celia Gonzalez who have passed away this year. There was a twinge in my heart a little while ago. Alex remembers his parents, Tony and Jean Aris. Alex goes back to work on Monday. I wish him the best of luck. I can't believe winter is nearly here. I hope we don't have a really bad winter. I hate the snow. It's pretty when it falls; but when ...

Happy Halloween!

We had a nice quiet Halloween. It was pissing down with rain, though. Once again I morphed into my true self and became Hermione. LOL. For breakfast I made a Halloween-themed Breakfast sandwich. I painted plain bread with milk tinted with orange food colouring and painted a pumpkin face onto the surface of both pieces of bread and toasted it. We watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaband. For dinner we had burgers and chips and for dessert, some of the Jack-O-Lantern Cake. The ...
